Nutrition Therapy FAQs: Your Path to Wellness Explained
FAQs
-
What is the role of a Nutrition Therapist?
The role of a nutrition therapist is to guide clients towards optimal wellness through assessment of one’s current dietary habits and identification of their nutritional goals. The nutrition therapist works closely with each client to assess, educate, strategize, and track progress along the way on their unique wellness journey, and based on their nutritional and lifestyle preferences. Some nutrition therapists like myself are trained to use functional testing to direct such guidance for a more targeted approach.

What happens during your free consultation?
I encourage every interested, potential client to take advantage of my 30 minute free holistic nutrition consultation. This gives you a chance to touch on your health concerns and goals, so we can both determine whether or not I am best suited to meet their needs. During this consult we go over what my process looks like, potential testing and protocol options to address your unique needs, including any costs, and any other questions you may have.

What is functional nutrition?
Functional nutrition applies the principles of functional medicine in which we are seeking to address root causes of symptoms, rather than simply slapping a Band-Aid on the symptoms only. We strive to use the healing power within our food and our own bodies to bring the body back into balance.

Do you provide nutritional guidance for specific dietary needs such as vegan and vegetarian diets?
To the best of my ability, I always seek to work with one’s current diet, adjusting it wherever I see necessary and within their comfort zone. If I do not feel that I can adequately design a protocol to meet their preferences, I will always refer out.

Do you offer virtual or in person nutrition counseling?
I offer both in-person and virtual nutrition counseling. For clients who are local to the Denver and Colorado Front Range area, or who prefer to meet in-person, I have an office in Lakewood Colorado and practice at another location in Denver on Mondays. I can also provide all of my services remotely.
-
Do you accept insurance for nutrition therapy services?
As an unlicensed practitioner, I am unable to accept insurance, and many of the tests would not be covered under insurance. However, I offer all tests at cost, and provide deep discounts on supplements at my online Fullscript store.

Who is Nutrition Therapy for? What types of clients do you work with?
I mainly work with women , particularly moms from preconception through perimenopause/menopause. I am a firm believer that many of the health-related issues women face during the stages of perimenopause and menopause can be traced as far back as their postpartum experience as they relate to conditions such as nutrient depletion, gut dysbiosis, hormone imbalance, and immune-related challenges. I work with clients on everything from gut-related problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), thyroid-related problems, mood instability, brain fog, depressed energy, food sensitivities, blood sugar dysregulation, and weight management.
